David and Goliath

A statue in Kew Gardens, London, looks like a copy of the 1444-46 bronze by Donatello. David holds his famous stone and stands on the head of Goliath whose sword he has used to decapitate the giant. Very different from the powerful Michelangelo David (1501), it is a boy so young as to be androgynous. Some experts claim Donatello may have cast a living model.
